Project Liquid
Leaders: Kidus Abebe, Casimir Hixon
Yale Project Liquid is the first undergraduate initiative at Yale and in the Tri-State Area to develop an engine capable of liquid propulsion as designed. Founded in the Fall of 2021, Liquid has developed a series of more aggressive designs, ranging from proof of concept to engines that can power a rocket. Having completed a successful water flow in 2023, the team made fire by testing the Augmented Spark Ignitor in the Winter of 2024.
Up next, the team is desiging an actively cooled engine with hundreds of pounds of thrust. This may eventually include designing a rocket with a liquid engine to launch at the well-known Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC). Check out the videos of various tests.
